A Loving Scoundrel - Johanna Lindsey - Audio Book

A Loving Scoundrel - Johanna Lindsey : Enter the privileged world of English aristocrats and experience the passion, intrigue, and romantic pleasures of the incomparable Malorys - a family of dashing rogues, rakehell, adventurers, and spirited ladies. Now Jeremy, the son of gentleman pirate James Malory, falls in love. . . .

When Danny, a young woman who grew up on the streets of London with no memory of her real
family, is banished from her gang because she helped handsome rakehell Jeremy Malory steal back the jewels his friend lost in a card game, Danny demands that Jeremy give her a job. She is determined to become respectable in order to fulfill her dream of marrying and starting a family. Intrigued by her beauty and spunk, Jeremy hires Danny as his upstairs maid, although he wants her as his mistress.

Under the tutelage of Jeremy and his cousin Regina, Danny blossoms into a lady. Although she is drawn to Jeremy by passionate feelings she has never experienced before, she refuses to be anything more than a servant to him because she knows he is not the marrying kind.

When Danny undergoes a Cinderella-like transformation and poses as Jeremy's new love in an attempt to help him avert a scandal, a few highly placed members of the ton remark on how familiar Danny looks. Now tongues are wagging, raising the question of her true identity, which threatens not only Dann.

This book gives us the romance, mystery, intigue and comedy that usually comes with a good Lindsey Romance. OK ! I do agree that too much emphasis was put on the language uses by Danny but its in line wiht the street thief story which comes in the "aristocratic's world". A relaxing reading.

Changing Habits - Debbie Macomber - Audio Book

Changing Habits - Debbie Macomber : They were sisters once. Almost forty years ago, in a more innocent time, two girls enter the convent. Angelina and Joanna come from vastly different backgrounds, but they have one thing in common -- a desire to serve, to join in the community of sisters.

Despite the relative seclusion of the convent house in Minneapolis, they're not immune to what's happening in the world around them. In 1972 Angie's involvement with a pregnant teenager triggers a crisis of faith. At the same time, Joanna's relationship with a Vietnam veteran brings her face-to-face with the choices she made -- and didn't make -- in her own life.

Then, Angie and Joanna leave the sisterhood, abandoning the convent for the exciting and confusing world outside. The world of choices to be made, of risks to be taken. Of men and romantic love.

This book is full of compassion, of love and I have to say of grace as well. Debbie Macomber has a real talent to enter into women's live and to explain their confusion, their internal fight, their confrontation with the outside world, simply to explain the life of very ordinary people.

Saffron Skies - Lesley Lokko - Audio Book

Saffron Skies - Lesley Lokko : Max Sall, powerful, wealthy and utterly ruthless, a man without a past. His wife, Angela, a society debutante who fell in love with the dark, handsome chauffeur, and broke her parents' hearts when she married him.

His mistress: Francesca, the glamorous Alitalia air stewardess, who saw in Max her ticket out of the Italian provinces and grabbed it - and him - with both hands.

And his daughters: Amber, more like her father than she'll ever know - smart, shrewd and determined to achieve, whatever the cost; and Paola, groomed by her mother to succeed where she failed, in getting a man to marry her.

Max's women are very different, but they all demand his attention. While Amber and Paola are growing up in the 1970s, their mothers somehow find a way to share Max between them. But when Amber and Paola fall in love with the same man two decades later, they're determined that this time there will be no sharing...

Saffron Skies is a good read and have lots of characters. It spans five decades, which allow us to enter into Max's story and his daughters' story too. We do experience the major points in their lives (love, happines, heartbreak, jealousy). There is as well plenty of action and beautiful descriptions of various locations. To read very quietly because the story is very dense.

Always Time To Die - Elizabeth Lowell - Audio Book

Always Time To Die - Elizabeth Lowell : The powerful Quintrell family of New Mexico has spent decades in the public eye. Now the recent death of the clan's patriarch has placed his son, Governor Josh Quintrell, squarely in the spotlight as he prepares his run for the highest political office in the land. It is not a good time to be rattling skeletons in the family's closets.

Researching personal histories isn't just Carolina "Carly" May's profession, it's her passion. But digging into the past is raising troubling questions about the would-be president's private life. And it soon becomes frighteningly apparent that someone is determined to remove the inquisitive genealogist from the picture by any means necessary.

Carly realizes that there is no one whom she dares to trust -- perhaps least of all Dan Duran, a dangerous and haunted mystery man who's somehow tied to the Quintrells' past. But she will need an ally to survive because following the bloodlines of the wealthy and power-hungry can be a bloody business ...

Its well done mix of romance and thriller, an "historical romance" as well if I may say so.

For Matrimonial Purposes - Kavita Daswani - Audio Book

For Matrimonial Purposes - Kavita Daswani : Unmarried at 24 - and with no prospects in sight - Anju is a great source of worry to her family. Despite the best efforts of relatives, fortune-tellers, and matchmakers to arrange a marriage, she can't seem to find a husband - or at least one she's willing to marry. Quickly becoming a spinster by her culture's standards, she is eager to escape the community that views her as a failure. After pleading with her parents for permission, she boards a plane bound for the United States and a dream of a career. And while husband-hunting isn't any easier in New York City, at least she's got company.

In this sparkling debut, an unconventional heroine defies tradition by making a marriage between the strict customs of India and the wild freedoms of America to find her own happy ending. Hilarious and heart-warming, For Matrimonial Purposes proves that, while the search for love takes many forms, the heartbreak and exhilaration are universal.

Much more better than any "Bollywood" productions !
